Notes - - Sarah's husband died between 1846-1851, forcing her to return to her father's plantation on Mossy Creek, northeast of Ft. Valley, Georgia.
"Mims had built his daughter Sarah Ann a house nestled in a shallow valley, far enough away for privacy but close enough for him to keep an eye on his daughter and grandsons. He had given her several slaves for housework, farming, and chores: a married couple, Augustus and Harriet; three young men, Simon, Russel, and Allen; and a young mother, Julia, and her three children. Mims kept Sarah Ann's pantry full and her children well clothed." [Source: Hell's Broke Loose in Georgia by Scott Walker]
