  • Notes
    • - I believe Nancy Worsham was Thomas' mother. He was listed with her and Littleton (his father) in the 1860 Mitchell County, Georgia census.

      - At the beginning of the Civil War, Thomas was living in Gadsden County, Florida. He crossed the FL-GA state line into Thomas County, Georgia to enlist in William D. Mitchell's Company I (previously company H), 29th Regiment, Georgia Volunteers in 1862.

      - According to Thomas's Florida Confederate Pension Application File: Thomas J. Peavy enlisted July 1862 in Captain William D. Mitchell's Company; Thomas County, GA, and was wounded at Kennesaw Mountain where he lost a finger in his left hand; he lost his right arm and was disabled at Jonesboro, GA, in that action 29 September 1864, and as a result is shown as mustered out of the service at that time. This veteran was a Gadsden County, Florida resident at the time of his enlistment. ...[H]e died 29 December 1921 in Gadsden County, Florida. His widow, Sallie S. Peavy, was awarded a Confederate Widow's Pension...on the basis of her husband's military service with the CSA.

      - From Company H, 29th Regiment, Thomas County, GA (Thomas County Volunteers) Muster Roll as found in Rootsweb, GAGenWeb database <http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/thomas/military/civilwar/rosters/29gvicoh.txt>. Accessed 25 October 2002:
