On last Friday night the spirit of our dear friend and neighbor, Mrs. S. E. Warren was wafted away unto Him who gave it. She was always cheerful, patient and greeted everyone with a smile. She has [sic] taken sick last Tuesday just after her morning meal. She made her home with her son, Fred, for several years. She had helped to see after Fred's son, Vernon ever since his mother died when he was only two years old. She was the daughter of Uncle Bige Gilbert and was 65 years old. The funeral was held at the Christian church at Millsap by J. P. Baxter. Her children were all at her bedside when death came. Frank, Jack and Aus of Santo; Mrs. Lessie Henderson of Bennetts; and Fred, at home. She leaves eleven grand children and four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. [J?]ones, Mrs. Howell, Mrs. Frank Clark and Joe Gilbert of Davis and Jack Gilbert of Weatherford, Mrs. Hancy of Abilene. Also Mrs. Grace Light, a niece, of Abilene, attended the funeral. Many beautiful flowers covered the casket. Burial took place at Fairview beside her husband and one son, who passed away when an infant.
