      - Obituary from 9 September 2001 Macon Telegraph:
      MACON - James Evans West of Macon, died Friday at a local hospital. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Hart's Mortuary with the Reverand Jimmy Corbitt and the Reverand Hardy Scarborough officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hart's Mortuary.

      Mr. West was a member of West Highland Baptist Church and was employed with the Macon Water Authority for 30 years. Mr. West coached church softball for boys and played himself until his late 60's.

      Survivors: Daughter, Annie Ree Hardeman of California; Daughter, Betty Jo Shelton of Carrollton; Son, Claxton West of Gordon; Daughter, Annette Powers of Macon; Sister, Anniebelle Banks of Waynesboro; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
