Daughter of Ex-Governor Engaged to Polish Nobleman

It was stated by former Gov. Edwin Warfield yesterday that he had good reason to place faith in the accuracy of the cable announcement in the New York Herald in regard to the engagement of his daughter, Miss Louise Warfield, to Count C. Ledochowski, of Austria. He said, however, that a formal announcement by her parents of the betrothal could not be made at this time.

"I know," said Mr. Warfield, "that my son, Edwin Warfield, Jr., and my daughter were introduced to Count Ledochowski in Honolulu a few months ago, shortly after my children started on their tour of the world. He has been attentive to Miss Warfield and honorable in his behavior."

When Miss Warfield and her brother went to Tokio, Japan, the Count met them again, as he did in Peking, China, where they were entertained by the American Ambassador and his wife.

Count Ledochowski is a member of one of the oldest families in the Polish aristocracy and is an only son, with large estates in his own name. Some of his ancestors have held important positions in the government affairs of Poland, one having been identified with the leaders of that country many generations.

Miss Warfield is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warfield, her elder sister, Miss Carrie Warfield, having married Mr. Hugh Harris several years ago. She is popular in society in Baltimore and Howard county, and is fond of riding. At the important horse shows she has taken many prizes, her skill in taking her mounts over difficult jumps having won her considerable distinction.
