Notes - - From Grandma's notes: "Virgil and I used to go skating and he had a bicycle we both rode. We would go check his rabbit traps. He taught me how to hunt & track rabbits in the snow and to shoot squirrels. But we had fun. We would dare each other to run around the house bare foot in the snow, and off we would go." [Grandmother's Memories to Her Grandchild, 2002]
- After Virgil's death, there was a memorial service at his residence of Pekin, Illinois, but he wanted to be buried in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri. His wishes were honored, and a funeral service with interment was there. [Jacquelyn Lincecum, telephone conversation, 25 July 2011.]
