    • - According to the United States World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 database at FamilySearch.org -- Ulyssus L. Tilley enlisted 25 May 1942 at East St. Louis, Illinois. It was noted he was divorced, with no dependents.

      - According to the U.S. military headstone application for Ulysses L. Tilley, he enlisted 25 May 1942, and was honorably discharged 26 October 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart. The unit was noted as -- Hq. 85th Cav. Rcn. Sq. Mecz. Ulysses's rank was Corporal. He received a flat granite marker with a Latin (Christian) Cross. His marker was received by Mrs. P. W. Walker -- his sister Jewel.
