  • Notes
    • - From July 1861 to 28 February 1862, B. D. was a member of Captain John J. Myers Lone Star Mounted Rifles. Also during the Civil War, he was a private in Company K, 36 Texas Cavalry. [Source: Soldiers and Sailors System, http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/]

      - An account of an 1870 trail drive he took from Llano to Salt lake City, Utah is in "The Trail Drivers of Texas."

      - There is a Braz Linscomb in the 1880 Baylor County, Texas census. He is listed as a herder.

      - B. D. died at the Confederate Home in Austin, Travis County, Texas. His death certificate has little information, as well as some incorrect information. It states he was a widower, born in 1842 at Mississippi. The informant was listed as "Home Records, Austin". He was supposedly buried in the "State Cem" 7 April 1913.

      - Sallie's widow pension application dated 1927 states B. D. was in "Homes Co. (Cavalry) I think, and later he was transferred to Co. I, 36 Tex. Cavalry, where he served about 3 years." Same application provides a witness affidavit that states: "We served with him in Co. I, 36 Texas Cavalry for three years during the Civil War. Co. I was commanded by Capt. T. H. Ellison. Mr. Lincecum was transferred to Co. I 36 Texas Cavalry from some other organization about a year after the war began. We do not remember the exact organization he came from. He was a good soldier and was honorable [sic] discharged."

A judge from Caldwell County, TX sent a letter to the Commissioner of Pensions on Sallie's behalf. It read, in part, "It is a well known fact however in this county, that B. D. Lincecum was a Confederate Veteran and that he died at the Home in Austin in April, 1913."

      Also from her pension app:
      WAR DEPARTMENT,
      THE ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE,
      WASHINGTON, Jan 8, 1918.
Respectfully returned to Com. of Pension, Austin, Texas.
with the information that Brazas B. (also borne as Brazos D.) Lincecum, pvt Co K 36 (also called 32) Regt Texas Cav CSA enlisted Feb 28, 1862 and on roll for Jan & Feb 1864 is reported "Deserted Feb 2, 1864". Roll for Jan & Feb 1865 (last on file) has no remark as to his presence or absence. No record of capture or parole found. Not borne as Brazos Dias.
