Per his obituary in the Houston Chronicle (Texas), Addison served "in the 45th Division of the Army and was sent to Japan. He volunteered for service in the 7th Calvary Division in the 531st RCT in Korea serving during the fighting on Heart Break Ridge earning the Korea Service Medal and Purple Heart."
