  1. 1.  Betty Sue Campbell was born on 11 Apr 1934 in Vanduser, Scott, Missouri, USA (daughter of Chester Wesley Campbell and Norma Ethel Robins); died on 24 Jan 2014 in Arizona, USA.

    Notes:

Grandma was born in Vanduser (near Morley), Missouri in a farmhouse. Her birth certificate (and passport) says she was born in Morley. According to her passport, issued 1956, Grandma was 5' 5" tall and had brown hair and eyes.

When Grandma was asked about her childhood, this is what she dictated to Grandpa, "Sue remembers playing Hide and Seek in the gullies on their farm, when there was someone to play with. If no one was with her, she would explore on her own. The community (and elementary school) was called Oak Valley, MO. The nearest store was Gill's Country Store, about three miles away, or Kelley's Country Store, about the same distance the other direction."

When asked about her brothers and sisters, this is what Grandma dictated to Grandpa, "Sue had an older brother Lynuel, an older sister Enid, a younger sister Jewell (Judy) and a little brother Wesley. Being the middle kid was rough then and not much better now."

When asked about her parents, this is what Grandma dictated to Grandpa, "Sue: Father was Chester Wesley Campbell born December 21, 1905. He was about six feet tall, strong, farmed much of his life. Moved to Cape Girardeau and was Custodian at First Baptist Church for many years. Mother was Norma Ethel Robins Campbell born November 28, 1906. She too could cook and sewed for everyone in the area, most of Sue's little friends clothes were made by Mom Campbell."

Chester was saved during a revival at Hoe School in Scott County, Missouri in 1936 or 1937. His wife's cousin (?) Hale was minister. Chester was confused about which church he should attend, so he attended several until he moved near Delta, Missouri. Before his mother died in 1933, she told him not to worry so much about what church, but to believe that Jesus Christ was God's son and to accept him as his Lord and Savior. He was either baptized into Delta Baptist Church or Chaffee Baptist Church (?) 26 October 1947. His children were baptized into the same around the same time. (Family tale)
